Purge was once a retail game (in the stores) and then sold by Freeform Interactive as an ESD (Electronic Software Distribution) game.  When Purge was retail, it used CD copy protection.  Eventually Purge switched over to having a registration key.

Without a key, players could only use 4 of the 8 classes.  They could still play online on the same servers as the registered users.

Purge is now free.  You can get the Purge Registration Key with no strings attached.  There is nothing more to install and no personal information needs to be given except your real name and your email address.

After you get your key, run "register.exe" from the Purge directory and enter in the code.

Warning: don't share your key with anyone.  This will wreck havoc on your character account.  The server will think two people are sharing one key and will attempt to determine who is the legitimate key owner.  You'll lose character levels and it will randomly boot you off the server.
